Aqaba’s dual-berth industrial powerhouse

Built in 1981 at the South Port, the Industrial Terminal comprises three berths with a total length of 669 metres and a draft ranging from 11.5 to 21 metres. It is operated by the Jordan Industrial Ports Company (JIPC) under a 30-year concession that began in 2016. A JD 145 million expansion and rehabilitation programme, inaugurated on June 9, 2022, increased the terminal's capacity from 5 to 10 million tonnes per year. Today, the facility has a total capacity of 9 million tonnes annually and handled 5.7 million tonnes in 2025.
